The Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) program was founded in 1979 by Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn and his colleagues at the Stress Reduction Clinic of the University of Massachusetts, Department of Behavioral and Preventive Medicine, in Worcester, Mass. U.S.A. MBSR has been successfully implemented in hundreds of hospitals, clinics, health centers and other settings around the world. In Europe the program has been taught successfully since the early 1990s and interest has continued to grow steadily. MBSR is described in detail in Kabat-Zinn´s book Full Catastrophe Living.
Learn simple meditation and mindfulness techniques to help calm the mind and begin to find inner peace

The aim of this course is to learn new ways of handling challenging physical sensations, emotions, moods and life situations by helping us to access our own powerful inner resources. Mindfulness meditation practices will be taught. Participants commit to a daily programme of mindfulness meditation practice. A set of five CDs and course materials are provided. Participants also have the opportunity to attend a whole day of mindfulness after week 7 of the course. This will be held on Saturday 20th November at Newton and Bywell Community Hall, Stocksfield, 15 m from Newcastle (Cost £25/15)
